Central Park’s South Gate Replaces Wine Lists with iPads : The Future is Now : Eater NY
No. This isn’t the future. It’s the stupidity of the present.
I am willing to bet dollars to donuts, there’s a shitty wine menu on there, and that’s it. Probably just an ebook conversion of their PDF menu.
Clients ask for this stuff all the time. I refuse to do it on principle, because it doesn’t add value. All it does is register in the mind of the customer that you’re hip … for about 15 seconds until they realize how boring and pointless the custom app you’ve commissioned sucks.
Sorry for the personal rant, but having worked with iPad and Surface and other multi-touch technologies for the past 3 years, I just hate to see good technology wasted on stupid ideas.
I am a little inclined to agree with Senior Guenther.
Now, it would be pretty nifty if you could place your order wirelessly via a mini-touchscreen device that’s at your table…. oh wait, just about every bar & karaoke place I hit around here has had that system for about 10 years……
Ooooooooooooooo in Japan we can order food from a computer…How fancy!
Must be nice, except for all the waiters and waitresses who are now out of the job due to a lessening of workforce. It’s good you have a job (Fisher) that a computer can’t do. Oh wait….we’ve had Rosetta Stone in America for 10 years!
By the way, just went to WaWa and ordered food from a retro ipad. FRAUD!
